Filming Sessions : 3
When we came too filming our third session, we felt that we made a lot of progression since the other filming sessions as we were able to finish majority of the production. In our third session we managed to complete 10 different scenes which were mainly all of the bedroom scenes containing Katy. My partner and i shot the scenes in various camera angels, giving us more options when we came to edit and finalizing our production. We were also able to film and record the flash back scenes in this third session which were a key part in our production as it enabled the audience to get an idea as to how Katy ended up in the mental home.
We felt that this session was successful as we had planned our time wisely and we had prepared our mise en scene in a relatively good way as we did hair and make up before hand and we set up the day before. This allowed us more time to focus on camera shots and angels and time.
We do not feel we made any major mistakes in this filming session as we completed our production and we filmed all the necessary shots in order to edit our production together.

Filming Sessions : 2
During this session we managed to film everything we aimed to, which was Katy walking down the corridor, and entering the bedroom. This was a relatively short filming session, but we did complete everything we aimed to.
No changes were made from the storyboard, to what we actually shot, because we felt that all the shots were necessary in order to complete Katy's journey to her bedroom, and also felt that these shots alone were sufficient.
We were happy with how the filming session went, although we were slightly limited on time as the location was in use shortly after we began filming, this taught us to plan well ahead and double check the availability of the venue.
For this particular session i felt that i personally helped with the Ellie's hair, and i filmed the shot of Katy walking into the bedroom.

Filming Sessions : 1
During this session we aimed to film the first 7 shots of our storyboard, we achieved this but did make a few slight changes as we encountered an issue with the first 3 shots of the storyboard, originally we were going to start the filming outside, and then film then through a window, but as there was limited availability we could not find a suitable window to use for this, so together decided to start the clip from the fourth shot on the storyboard. During this session we learnt more camera control, for example how to use the zoom effectively. We were happy with the shots in the bathroom, and the corridor shot, as we tried the shot from two different directions which gave us choice and flexibility when we came to edit it.
Overall we produced 20 minutes of footage, which took us approximately an hour and a half to film, including setting up and make up.
The above picture shows us creating Ellie's character, Katy, through the hair and makeup. We began each shooting session by doing this.

Filming Schedule
To organize our filming, in order to get the most from our shooting sessions, we planned each day in advance including details such as camera angles, props needed and the duration of each shot. We felt that the film schedule helped us self assess where we are at in terms of our filming and what progress needed to be made.

Location Shots
In order to produce a realistic opening sequence, we needed to use a location that had a cold and basic atmosphere similar to a hospital, that we could adapt to give an eery atmosphere. We considered several locations including our schools social area (the dalo building) as it is clean, white and simple. As we discussed, we came to the conclusion that filming here could be difficult as the building is always in use, so we thought of alternatives. After several attempts we found a location, Bromley Football Club, which was available during the weekdays and some evenings, we visited the location and took shots to see if it would be ideal for our production, the location was ideal as it came across as unoccupied, and it fit in with the theme of our production, being based on a girl in a mental institution. We foresaw that our footage would be ideal for editing, as the lighting and mise-en-scene was basic, adding authenticy.
Casting Shots
When considering casting for our production, we chose to use just 1 main character to emphasize the isolation Katy is feeling. However, we used two actors as one of them represents her alter-ego. We chose Ellie Dolke to play the role of Katy, as she has a gothic look, that fits with the look of the character. For the alter-ego we used myself as i have a similar hair colour to Ellie, and we made myself look neat, to contrast with Ellie's messy look.
